Why not make Saint George’s Day a public holiday? National Days are hardly unique. Virtually every country in the world has a public holiday to celebrate its National Day. For example the French celebrate Bastille Day, 14 th July, by having a public holiday and the USA has a public holiday for Independence Day, 4 th July.
