There are plenty of other words just as unpleasant and just as accurate in describing what happened to the England cricket team in Australia in the winter of 2006-7 but the above will suffice. All credit to Australia, they were absolutely magnificent. As for England, we got what we deserved and it’s quite simply a case of back to the drawing board. These are not good times for mainstream English sport; our cricketers have now plumbed the depths reached by their football and rugby colleagues. Oh dear!
