This is a website for people with an interest in or an affection for England, for her traditions, her values, her culture, her history and heritage. It is also a reference point for England in particular and the United Kingdom in general. Whilst many English, Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish naturally feel a fierce loyalty to their own heritage and culture their union has contributed richly to the culture and wealth of these Isles as a whole. Their pasts were and, it is to be hoped, their futures will continue to be closely interwoven.
This website does not intend to be political or nationalistic except in a positive sense. It is surely possible to feel pride in ones country without flaunting that pride in an aggressive manner indicative of intolerance and ignorance. Pride in country like pride in family should be a force for the good and should come naturally to all of us. Whether you are English, British or otherwise is of no consequence. You are welcome to visit and browse through this site.
Why not make Saint George’s Day a public holiday? National Days are hardly unique. Virtually every country in the world has a public holiday to celebrate its National Day. For example the French celebrate Bastille Day, 14 th July, by having a public holiday and the USA has a public holiday for Independence Day, 4 th July. Let’s make Saint George’s Day a public holiday too. Why not write to your MP or join the campaign below:
